About me

I have always been someone who moves towards difficulty rather than away from it whether that has been operational responsibility, leading teams through uncertainty, or taking on triathlons, cold-water swimming and ultra-distance events. These experiences have taught me that clarity, confidence and capability are built when we choose to to be uncomfortable. i

Across my career, I’ve been known for solving problems that others avoided, making decisions that mattered, and creating conditions where people could do their best work. I am at my happiest when I’m challenged and when I am enabling others to grow. Being described by peers and clients as calm, confident, energising and compassionate has helped me recognise that my presence itself is a tool a blend of steadiness and energy that allows people to go deeper, faster.

Several influences who i am.

  • Sport and sports science taught me discipline, performance psychology, resilience and the science behind human capability.

  • Leadership and transformation roles taught me decision-making, accountability, problem-solving, and the importance of clarity.

  • Endurance and cold-water swimming taught me mental toughness, presence under discomfort, and the power of choosing challenge.

  • My personal values autonomy, accountability, impact, resilience, mastery, and partnership guide how I show up.

These influences have formed my core belief: We can be better when we work with our discomfort with support, structure and accountability.

I coach because I want people to feel more capable, empowered, stronger, clearer and more confident in their own ability.

The metaphor that captures my coaching identity is the Cold water swimmer.

It is not about external heat or bravado; it is about regulating your inner world so you can stay grounded, calm and committed in extreme conditions. It involves a deliberate decision to step into something cold, sharp, uncomfortable because of what lies on the other side: clarity, aliveness, purpose, and profound confidence.

This metaphor reflects how I coach:

  • Entering the Cold: Clients come to me when they need to face something difficult, unclear or avoided.

  • Shock to Clarity: I help them cut through noise quickly, getting them to the heart of what matters.

  • Internal Strength: I support clients in building the resilience, stamina and self-belief to stay with the discomfort long enough to grow.

  • Movement Through the Water: I help clients navigate transitions, decisions and action.

  • Emerging Stronger: With accountability, support and challenge, clients come out clearer and more confident.

As part of my AoEC Executive & Leadership Coaching we had to define our coaching model and the type of coach we are :

My coaching framework and model reflect the person I am: a challenger, a supporter, a partner in progress. Someone who steps into discomfort with purpose and helps others do the same. Someone who brings clarity, energy, resilience and presence to every conversation.

I coach like a cold water swimmer with courage, calmness, focus and an unwavering belief that the transformation lies on the other side of the cold.
